In the beginning, the hardest thing about weight loss exercises, is getting your shoes on…
Well, you know what I mean, the hardest part is getting started, creating a new habit, doing things that may hurt or feel uncomfortable to start with.
BUT and this is a huge BUT, the benefits of exercise for you both physically and mentally cannot be put into words.
Trying to lose weight by diet or exercise alone, is extremely difficult. You really need to do both.
The wonderful thing about exercise, for me at least, is that if I am exercising, I feel better mentally and then I want to eat better. If I am not exercising, I am “slacker” with food.

Enjoying Exercise
I was talking to a friend the other day who is desperate to lose some weight, she feels like her whole world is spiralling out of control because her weight is so out of control. She said to me, “Rebel, if I spent as much time exercising as I do worrying about my weight, I would be skinny”. Isn’t this so true….
You will feel so much more in control when you start doing something about what you are worrying about.
I do now train every day and love my sessions but in the beginning, when I started working with Mark my Personal Trainer, I would feel sick before every session. I did not want to exercise, I would sit at home the night before trying to work out how I was going to get out of the next mornings session. It hurt, it frustrated me, it made me feel like a failure, I was embarrassed to have people watching. When I exercised outside, I felt like everyone would be looking at me, making fun of my size.
Exercise was not my friend. However, I was not happy the way I was either and I just perservered through. I turned up every day even on the days I did not want to and had plenty of tears along the way, often out of pure frustration that my body had got to this point.
I encourage you to make a commitment to yourself that no matter what, no matter how you may feel, on any given day, you WILL get up every day and do some form of weight loss exercises. I promise you, if you can do this, in no time at all, you will start seeing results and you will start enjoying exercise.
For me, the best time to exercise is first thing in the morning. Nothing can happen between when the alarm goes off and I get up and go. If I try to exercise later in the day, usually something comes up and I can’t make it.
I had never run in my life prior to starting to train with Mark and never had any desire to. Now, I love to run and have competed in some 10km races. I feel so free when I run and always choose amazing places to run and always feel so alive.
I am just so grateful that when I wanted to quit, when I wanted to feel sorry for myself and think why me, why does this have to be so hard, that I just got up every day and did it. If I had not of, I would have still been like my girlfriend, spending hours and hours of my life worrying what I was going to do, instead of living my life and enabling me the opportunity to help other people do the same.
So, in the famous words of Nike, JUST DO IT….
Yours in Health,
Rebel.
